THE SPACE & PROPERTY
Meet Mica cabin, our most remote "Cabinscape" to date. This off-grid retreat is located in Eastern Ontario on Rideau Valley Conservation land in beautiful Tay Valley. The cabin overlooks a quiet, protected lake and is surrounded by wilderness with not a cottage in sight. Enjoy evening sunsets from your deck, hiking trails off your doorstep, and pristine paddling on Mills Lake (canoe included).

Winter Disclaimer: This cabin is a hike-in cabin when the snow becomes too difficult to drive through. Guests are provided with snow-shoes and a sled to haul in their gear. Please note running water is shut off in late October when temperatures fall below freezing. Drinking and dishwashing water is provided. Winter weather can be challenging. Guests must be comfortable, equipped and acknowledge the inherent risks in staying in this winter backcountry environment.
🥾 Moderate Hike-in: Mica cabin is a 900 Meter hike in with some small hills
Mica cabin offers a clean, minimalist, rustic and open-concept space designed for 1-4 guests. This west-facing, lakeside retreat comes equipped with a 4-burner stove; mini fridge; BBQ; queen & double bed; indoor washroom; and an outdoor shower. Guests looking for an adventure can hike the trails on-site or take our canoe out to the swimming dock and explore Mill's Lake. From the cabin, you are just a short 15-minute drive to the gorgeous heritage town of Perth, Ontario. Here you'll find anything you might need: groceries, LCBO, cafes, restaurants, pubs, Saturday farmers' markets, galleries, concerts, and festivals. Looking for a day trip? Visit Murphy's Point Provincial Park (an 8-miute drive) for groomed trails, a public beach, and tours of Silver Queen Mine (an early 1900s mica mine that plunges 20 metres deep to a subterranean tunnel of jagged, glistening mica minerals).
TAKE NOTE:
- Our cabin is on public conservation land. While the cabin is in a remote location, you may hear or encounter other hikers/visitors on the trails and lake.
- Our cabin is in an isolated back-country environment. Guests are responsible for their own safety and are expected to have basic wilderness skills along with a general sense of comfort being alone in nature.
