SNOWMOBILING

Embark on a high-speed snowmobile safari through the vast trails of Haliburton Forest. Feel the rush as you navigate the snowy terrain, surrounded by the beauty of winter wilderness! Daily Trail Passes are limited and sell out fast, but don’t worry if you missed out- Cabinscape’s Ivy, Jade, Sage, Pine and Moss Cabins near Base Camp include a trail pass with booking! (Valid ownership and insurance must be presented to staff at the Main Office upon check-in)

Looking for something near our Lanark County Cabins? Perth’s Outdoor Adventure Rentals offers a ‘Park and Ride’ rental service with direct access to trails for ATVs, UTVs, and Ski-Doos.

ICE CLIMBING

For the ultimate vertical challenge, gear up for some ice climbing! Conquer those icy heights and earn some serious bragging rights.

Not sure how to dig into this sport? If you’re staying with us in Haliburton, the Haliburton Forest offers an Ice Climbing Experience for Beginners at their naturally forming West Shore Crag ice wall.

Further east along the Canadian Shield, our Calabogie Cabins are nearby both the the Manitou Hiking Trailhead and Eagles Nest which (depending on the year) offer a variety of ice climbs from beginner to difficult. Proper equipment, experience and lots of layers is a must!

SKIJORING

Ready for a truly unique adventure? If your dog loves to pull and you’re looking to get the blood pumping with cross-country skiing, try skijoring! Skijoring is a sport where you cross-country ski with the help of your dog. It’s an exhilarating experience down the trail for both you and your furry companion! Haliburton Forest has an expert guide to teach you this novel sport, and Cabinscape has Pup-Friendly Cabins for you both to enjoy a well-deserved break afterwards!

SKIING / SNOWBOARDING

Calabogie Peaks Resort, neighbouring our Finch, Wren, and Starling Cabins, offers the best of what winter has to offer. Lift tickets are your key to experience the beautifully groomed mountain trails, or exhilarating runs through the terrain parks and forest glades.

New to the sport? No problem! Calabogie Peaks boasts the longest beginner trail in the province and you can register for a ski or snowboard lesson at the Adventure Centre. Equipment rentals are also available on-site!

Prefer less vertical? The Madawaska Nordic ski trails include plenty of well-marked and colour coded cross country trails to choose from.

ICE SKATING

Grab your skates and hit the ice! Our Kawartha Lake is the perfect hidden oasis to experience epic sunsets and fantastic views as you glide across the surface. (Ice thickness is not monitored, so please ensure you only go out once frozen solid).

If skating isn’t your style, ditch the blades for a hook and line and try your hand at Ice Fishing at any of our lakefront Haliburton Cabins (Bone, Baylight, Penner, Willow, Kaya, Big Rock, Cove and Quasi) fishing permits required. Haliburton Forest also offers a Guided Ice Fishing Experience.

From heart-pounding thrills to serene explorations, our beautiful province offers a spectrum of extreme adventures that will redefine your winter experience.

Ready to conquer the frosty challenges? Bundle up, gear up, and let the winter adventures begin!
