Our tiny off-grid cabins are placed on beautiful, rugged and private properties that overlook lakes, rivers, meandering creeks and trails — all with varying levels of remoteness to suit your personal adventure style! We book up to 5 months in advance and open reservations on a revolving monthly basis. July dates are now OPEN! August dates open April 1st.

    Burdock cabin is located on a magnificent 230 acre property overlooking a sparkling blue, spring-fed lake (the result of a former limestone quarry). This incredibly unique and otherworldly landscape is just 1.5 hours from Toronto. Our pristine lake is home to 5 lakeside cabins, each on its own big, beautiful and secluded lot – with dreamy desert-like vistas. 

    All lakeside cabins are identical in design and come with their own fire pit, paddle board, BBQ, picnic table, two Muskoka chairs, and a private dock at the water’s edge. Paddleboards are swapped out for two complimentary adult-sized pairs of snowshoes in the winter months.

    Due to the realities of this site and the safety risks involved, we do not recommend this cabin for families with children under the age of 6. Pups are also only permitted on specific “pet-friendly” sites. See the “Be Aware” section below for more detail.

Communal lake area access is included with the cabin rental,  and paddle board rentals are available right at the water’s edge. In the winter months, complimentary adult-sized pairs of snowshoes are provided to explore the on-site trails, so all guests can take advantage of this truly epic location regardless of the time of year.

    This remote waterfront cabin is located on Duck Lake, a gorgeous and private spot in Haliburton Forest & Wild Life Reserve. This cabin shares the lake with our Willow, Big Rock & Cove cabins, and is the perfect base camp for cyclists, hikers and paddlers wanting a place to relax and unwind after a day of adventuring in the Haliburton Highlands. In the winter guests can take advantage of the snowy conditions of the Algonquin Dome for an ultimate snowmobile & winter ATVing getaway!

     

    As part of our partnership with Haliburton Forest & Wild Life Reserve, our guests have access to 100,000 acres of wilderness for each day of their stay. Enjoy over 400km of hiking & mountain biking trails right outside your door from April through November, or purchase a snowmobile pass once the snow falls to access these unique, professionally groomed trails throughout the winter months.

     

    Please keep in mind that after Deer Hunting Season in mid-November, this back-country cabin is hike-in or snowmobile/ATV access only. We provide a sled and snowshoes for the hike-in, but please note, this is a challenging ~2 hour hike on rugged terrain. We recommend the hike-in for experienced adventurers only. However, for an additional fee, guests can opt into our shuttling service from mid-November to May to be shuttled to and from the cabin when they check-in and check-out – no hike required!

    Named after the late, great Canadian naturalist and canoeing icon, Bill Mason, Mason cabin resides on 576 pristine acres in the Frontenac Spur of the Canadian Shield, where it sits humbly overlooking a secluded lake with expansive wilderness views. Hike along the extensive trails the property has to offer and meander through a mixture of forest, meadows, beaver ponds, and wetlands.

    Designed especially for two adults (or small families), Mason cabin offers a cozy, clean, minimalist, rustic and open-concept design with panoramic windows to bring the natural beauty of this unique, rugged property inside.

    Moss Cabin is located in Haliburton Forest & Wild Life Reserve on a cleared campsite surrounded by forest. Each of our Haliburton Forest Micro Cabins are about 100 meters apart from one another, offering guests relative privacy with the comfort of knowing others are close by. All three cabins are identical in design and come with their own fire pit, BBQ and picnic table. (If you are looking for a more remote/private cabin experience, consider looking at our Wilderness Cabins for rent.)
     
    As part of our partnership with Haliburton Forest & Wild Life Reserve, our guests have access to 100,000 acres of wilderness for each day of their stay. Enjoy over 400km of hiking & mountain biking trails right outside your door from April through November, or take advantage of an included snowmobile pass once the snow falls to access these unique, professionally groomed trails during the winter months.
