THE SPACE & PROPERTY
Affectionately named after the small, rural village where she was built, Auburn cabin sits surrounded by tall oak, maple and cedar trees, perched above a quiet lake. A short stroll down a meandering pathway leads you to your private dock in a secluded part of the bay. Enjoy evening sunsets and campfires under the stars. Swim, fish or explore the extensive network of trails in parks and conservation areas in the surrounding area. Auburn cabin offers a clean, minimalist, rustic and open-concept design with lots of windows and light to bring the natural beauty of the outside in.
LOCATION
This Cabinscape is located in the heart of the Land O’ Lakes Region in Central Frontenac, Ontario, an area known for its rugged Canadian Shield terrain, rolling hills, winding roads, pristine lakes, and outdoor adventure activities. A short 10-minute drive to the quaint village of Sharbot Lake is where you’ll find anything you might need: groceries, LCBO, Beer Store, cafe, mini golf, restaurants, a public beach, Saturday farmers’ markets, local events, concerts and activities. If you’re up for the exercise and adventure, you can also hike or cycle to town via the K & P Trail.

WINTER CABIN INFO (NOVEMBER – SPRING MELT)
Auburn Cabin is the perfect winter getaway for outdoor adventure seekers. Imagine having an entire lake to yourself with private access to quiet pathways for hiking, sledding and snow-shoeing. Hunker down and cozy up in our fully insulated cabin (heated via propane). Prepare some hearty home-cooked meals on our four-burner stove, or get adventurous and cook over our cabin-side fire pit or BBQ.
WINTER CABIN ACCESS (MID NOVEMBER – SPRING MELT)
Auburn cabin is a hike-in destination after the snow falls. Our 800-meter laneway is not plowed in winter months. This means that guests access our cabin by snowshoe when the snow is too deep to drive through (about a 10-15 minute walk from your car). There is a plowed lot at the entrance of our laneway to park your car. You’ll be provided with two pairs of snow-shoes and a sled to haul your gear to the cabin. Running water is turned off in November when our lake begins to freeze. When our water is shut off, guests are supplied with 40L of drinking and dish washing water during their stay.

There is NO WIFI access at the cabins. There is good, reliable cell reception for Rogers and Bell customers at the cabin.

You are more than welcome to bring along your pup. 1 dog per booking is permitted. You will need to add your dog as an “additional guest” when booking. Additional guest/pet fee is $25/per night.
ADDITIONAL GUESTS
Auburn cabin can accommodate up to 4 guests. The daily rate includes 2 guests. Additional guest fee is $25/per night.
BRINGING CHILDREN?
Children 12 and under are FREE. Do not bother checking off your child(ren) as additional guests when booking. Please just let us know in your notes.
The cabin can accommodate a maximum of 4 guests, plus 1 dog.
GUEST ACCESS
Guests will have full access to the cabin and surrounding property. Entry is by lock-box and key. Note: Check in time is 4 pm. Check-out is 12 pm.

We are always a phone call or text away for any questions or assistance. Our wonderful on-call property manager lives nearby and can be available on-site if need be.

ENERGY CONSUMPTION:
As an off-grid, solar powered cabin, energy conservation is key. Please turn off lights when not in use, especially when you are outside of the cabin. Drawing too much energy may cause you to lose power, so please be mindful of your consumption. There is a back-up generator if needed.
NOISE LEVELS:
Please keep your evening noise levels to within reason. There are only a few other cottages on the lake (most are far off and hidden out of eyesight or closed for the winter). But noise carries over water. Help us to promote a quiet and tranquil setting for everyone.
GARBAGE:
All garbage and recycling must be packed up and taken home on your departure. There is a local dump that you can stop at on your way home.
CHILDREN:
Every family is different. Some might feel the step-ladders, compact living space and rugged outdoor terrain less than ideal for young children. Others might be game for an adventure! We leave it up to you to decide what’s best for your family.
PETS:
You are more than welcome to bring along your dogs. We ask that you please keep them off the beds and couch cushions. Due to common allergies, cats must be kept at home.
ALTERNATIVE TRANSIT:
Bike K&P Trail/Trans Canada Trail: Need the perfect base camp along your trek? Hop off the trail and take some time out. Our tiny cabin in the woods is sure to relax and recharge you for your journey ahead.
PUBLIC TRANSIT:
Greyhound Canada runs a daily stop to Sharbot Lake from Toronto and Ottawa. Contact us to coordinate a car service to your cabin or opt to cycle instead.
THE SPACE & PROPERTY
Named after our favourite Canadian kids’ TV show in the 90’s: Fred Penner’s Place, this cheery and vibrant wilderness retreat is located in South Frontenac, Ontario, on the southern edge of the Canadian Shield. The cabin overlooks a small paddling lake that offers expansive east-facing views. Watch the sunrise as you enjoy your morning coffee off your private deck. Afterward, pack your lunch and head to the lake. A short stroll down a gently sloping pathway will lead you to a shared dock and shady picnic area. Swim, fish, canoe, kayak or stand up paddle-board on-site, or get out and explore Frontenac Provincial Park‘s extensive canoe routes and hiking trails. All your paddling needs can be serviced on-site by Frontenac Outfitters Canoe & Kayak Centre who operate on the main road and are the owners of this beautiful and rugged property.

A short 10-minute drive to the little village of Sydenham is where you’ll find anything you might need: bank, groceries, gas, LCBO, Beer Store, organic fine dining, pharmacy, delicious brunch, and Canada’s oldest general store w/ local crafts, treats, etc.

SHARED SPACES
Our lake, picnic and dock-area is a shared space between our guests, the owners and customers of Frontenac Outfitters. There is a separate launching dock around the lake (out of sight) where their paddling customers launch from. On the lake you may encounter their customers test-paddling their boats or enjoying a kayak or canoe lesson. Don’t be shy… get out on the water and have some fun too! Or sign-up for a lesson yourself.
CAMPSITES
There are four small, private campsites that the Canoe & Kayak Centre operate on the property. These campsites are out of sight from Penner cabin (about 200-300 metres behind the cabin). These are NOT public campsites. These campsites are sometimes used by their customers who are travelling a long distance to take a workshop or purchase a boat. They are not used on a regular basis. We ask that our guests please respect the privacy of these guests while also respecting that our dock and picnic area is a shared space and may be used by these guests occasionally.
NOTE: If you are looking for a completely private cabin experience, please consider booking our Mason or Auburn cabins.

BE AWARE
• We share our 576 pristine acres with the good folks at the Sumac Centre (a family-owned lodge) and their friendly golden lab Maya. The lodge is located down the lake and out of view from our cabin, giving you ample privacy and seclusion. However, all trails on the property are shared between our cabin and the lodge. Please be respectful of our neighbours and their guests. We have a mutual agreement to give each other as much privacy as possible.
• Our pathway to the cabin is on a rugged, meandering terrain through the forest. It can get rutty depending on weather conditions (especially after heavy rainfall in Spring). We will always update our guests on driving conditions in advance of arrival. If the pathway is not driveable, it’s only a short 5-minute hike from your car.

The cabin is located a quick 6-minute drive to the rural village of Pakenham on the Mississippi River. Stop into town for a picnic by the beach or by the boiling rapids at the historic Five Span Bridge. You’ll find all your provisions here in town like groceries, LCBO, lunch, dinner, ice cream from Scoops and fudge from Penny’s Fudge Factory.

WINTER CABIN INFO (NOVEMBER – SPRING MELT)
Joni cabin is the perfect winter getaway for outdoor adventure seekers. Enjoy direct access to wilderness trails for hiking, snow shoeing and cross country skiing right outside your door, or visit Mount Pakenham Ski Resort just minutes away. After a day of exploring, hunker down and cozy up in our fully insulated cabin (heated via propane). Prepare some hearty home-cooked meals on our four-burner stove, or get adventurous and cook over our cabin-side fire pit.
WINTER CABIN ACCESS
Joni cabin is a hike-in destination after the snow falls. Our 300-meter laneway is not plowed in winter months. This means that guests access our cabin by snowshoes when the snow is too deep to drive through (about a short 5 minute walk from your car). There will be a plowed lot at the entrance of our laneway to park your car. You’ll be provided with two pairs of snow-shoes and a sled to haul your gear to the cabin. Running water is turned off in November when the creek begins to freeze. When our water is shut off, guests are supplied with 40L of drinking and dishwashing water during their stay.

• Explore the village of Almonte, an historic and picturesque mill town along the Mississippi with quaint shops, galleries, cafes, restaurants and festivals (20-minute drive)

PLEASE BE AWARE…
SHARED TRAILS
Our hiking trails are shared between our guests and the owners/customers of Cartwright Springs Brewery who may be touring the brewery. Don’t be alarmed if you encounter other people on the hiking trails.
OUTDOOR SHOWER
This cabin does not have an indoor shower. Enjoy showering in our refreshingly clean artesian spring-fed outdoor shower at the side of the cabin. The shower is equipped with hot water.
WIFI/CELL SERVICE
There is NO WIFI access at the cabin. But there is good, reliable cell reception for Rogers and Bell customers.
DOGS
You are more than welcome to bring along your pup. 1 dog per booking is permitted. You will need to add your dog as an “additional guest” when booking. Additional guest/pet fee is $25/per night.
ADDITIONAL GUESTS
Joni cabin can accommodate up to 3 guests. The daily rate includes 2 guests. Additional guest fee is $25/per night.
BRINGING CHILDREN?
Children 12 and under are FREE. Do not bother checking off your child(ren) as additional guests when booking. Please just let us know in your notes.
GUEST ACCESS
Guests will have full access to the cabin and surrounding property. Entry is by lock-box and key. Note: Check in time is 3 pm. Check-out is 11 am.

We are always a phone call or text away for any questions or assistance. Our trusty on-call property, Andre, is the owner of Cartwright Springs Brewery. He lives nearby and can be made available if need be.

ENERGY CONSUMPTION:
As an off-grid, solar powered cabin, energy conservation is key. Please turn off lights when not in use, especially when you are outside of the cabin. Drawing too much energy may cause you to lose power, so please be mindful of your consumption. There is a back-up generator if needed.
NOISE LEVELS:
Please keep your evening noise levels to within reason. Help us to promote a quiet and tranquil setting for everyone.
GARBAGE:
All garbage and recycling must be packed up and taken home on your departure.
PETS:
You are more than welcome to bring along your dogs. We ask that you please keep them off the bed. Due to common allergies, cats must be kept at home.
TERMS AND CONDITIONS
GENERAL STATEMENT
Cabinscape Cabins are off-grid, solar-powered and ecologically sound tiny cabins on wheels. Cabins are located in private, secluded and backcountry environments. All cabins come equipped with back-up generators for additional power when solar energy is limited. Guests are responsible for their own safety and are expected to have basic wilderness skills. Guests should feel comfortable operating a generator (if needed). A House Manual is provided in each cabin with detailed instructions on cabin systems. Cabincape is not liable for bodily injury (including death) or damage to personal property due to exposure to inclement weather or rugged settings.
CANCELLATION POLICY
All cancellations or changes to your booking must be made via email. There is a cancellation charge corresponding to the number of days your cancellation is made, prior to the day of your expected arrival:
At least 14 days prior to check-in = Majority Refund (90% of the total booking amount)
8-14 days prior to check-in = Partial Refund (50% of the total booking amount)
7 or less days prior to check-in = No Refund
A change to your booking dates is considered a new booking and will be subject to the standard cancellation policy above.
USE
Guests agree to use the Property for personal vacation use only. There shall be no camping, tenting or other auxiliary accommodation on the Property without prior written authorization. No person under the age of nineteen (19) years is allowed on the Property unless such person is accompanied by a parent or guardian.
IDENTITY OF GUESTS
The number of persons present (including adults and children) overnight or during the day shall not exceed the maximum number indicated on your booking. If a guest violates this provision, they will be deemed to have committed a breach of this Agreement and may be asked to vacate the Property (without refund) or charged an Additional Guest Fee of $25/per day.
PETS
Guests are welcome to bring 1 dog per booking. Dogs must be indicated on the original booking and guests will be charged a pet fee of $25/per night. Bringing a pet on the property without prior authorization and payment is considered a breach of this Agreement and guests may be asked to vacate the Property (without refund) or charged a Pet Fee of $25/per day. Guests must bring extra blankets (or a dog bed) for their dog to sleep on. Dogs are not allowed on our bedding and couch cushions. All litter must be cleaned up immediately and taken home upon departure. Guests are liable for their dog and responsible for their dog’s safety in the woods. All guests must be aware that dogs may have occupied the cabin previous to their own stay. Cabisncape takes no responsibility for conditions arising from allergies at any cabin. Pets other than dogs are not permitted in the cabins.
CLEANING
Cabins are thoroughly cleaned before each arrival. Guests agree to clean the Cabin prior to their departure, remove their own garbage and recycling and generally leave the Property in the same state of cleanliness and general order in which it was found.
SMOKING
Smoking is prohibited inside the cabin. Guests must clean up all cigarette butts from the Property and responsibly dispose of them in the garbage.

LIABILITY
In making your booking with Cabincsape, you take full responsibility for the safety and health of any guest you bring to the cabin. Cabinscape shall not be liable for any accident, medical incident or any direct or indirect damages caused to the cabin as consequence of use. This includes damages, insurance, loss due to fire, theft, and misconduct.
