This adventure-filled weekend offers paddling enthusiasts the best of both worlds: a magical setting to get out and explore the Trent Severn Waterway, and a 230-acre basecamp to unwind, relax and unleash your inner camp kid.

On Saturday morning after a hearty breakfast in our pavilion, you’ll gear up for a day-long paddling adventure with The Land Canadian Adventures, an experienced, local guiding team. This 8-10km (round-trip) excursion begins with a dock-talk and a lesson to help ensure our party paddles swiftly and safely along course.

From there you’ll set off on a staggeringly beautiful journey between Kirkfield and Mitchell Lake. This 2-km perfectly straight stretch of canal is our access point to the Trent Severn Waterway and is a particularly magical spot along the waterway – you feel as though you’re traveling the hallway of a mystical forest where the carpeting happens to be shimmering water.

Along course, you’ll witness the shifting bioregion between the Saint Lawrence River basin and the Canadian Shield, experiencing parts dominated by limestone and cedar forest, transitioning to granite shield and rugged white pines.

A delicious shore lunch will be provided to regenerate you for the expedition back to Cabinscape Camp. Take this time to relax, soak up some sun, swim, or partake in some educational activities. From paddling strokes to camp skills like knot-tying, orienteering to foraging for wild edibles – there is sure to be something for everyone.

This weekend is designed to get you out adventuring in a group setting with likeminded humans, while also offering you ample free time and downtime to enjoy all that Cabinscape Camp has to offer on its 230-acre property in the Kawartha Lakes region.

The Land Canadian Adventures is a multi-award-winning team of outdoor educators and wilderness guides in the North Kawarthas who specialize in four-season backcountry travel, experiential education and tourism and training across Ontario and BC.

Cabinscape Camp will offer guests ample opportunities to connect with nature and their inner camp kid while capturing the nostalgic charm of lazy, hazy summer camp days. The property is adjacent to the Trent Severn Waterway system which connects to several larger lakes in the Kawartha Lakes region, making it an excellent basecamp for day-long expeditions.
